Source: The Chosun Ilbo
Date: 15-Feb-2012
Three out of five Koreans would opt for cheaper drugs if the effectiveness is same as the drug prescribed by doctors. The Health Insurance Review and Assessment Service in a survey released Tuesday said 64.7 percent of respondents would opt for cheaper alternatives.
Among people in their 20s to 40s, 66 percent gave the same answer.
Among those who said they would stick to the medicine prescribed by doctors, 56.1 percent said they respect the doctor's decision, and 35.1 percent that they cannot be certain that the cheaper alternative would be as effective. Another 8.8 percent said they could not be bothered since the price gap is not large.
