Generic Vardenafil (Levitra) is an oral medication for the treatment of erectile dysfunction (ED). It helps increase blood flow to the penis and may help men with ED get and keep an erection satisfactory for sexual activity.

Class and mechanism: Erection of the penis is initiated by the relaxation of smooth muscle in the corpus cavernosum, one of a pair of sponge-like regions in the penis. When aroused, nitric oxide is released from nerve endings and endothelial cells in the corpus cavernosum. Nitric oxide activates the enzyme guanylate cyclase resulting in increased synthesis of cyclic guanosine monophosphate (cGMP) in the smooth muscle cells of the corpus cavernosum. The cGMP triggers smooth muscle relaxation, increasing blood flow into the penis, resulting in erection.

Generic Vardenafil (Levitra) should be stored at room temperature between 15-30°C (59-86°F). Keep this medication in the container it came in, tightly closed, and out of reach of children. Store it away from excess heat and moisture (not in the bathroom). Throw away any medication that is outdated or no longer needed. Generic Vardenafil (Levitra) comes as a tablet to take by mouth. For most patients, the recommended starting dose of Generic Vardenafil (Levitra) is 10 mg, taken orally approximately 60 minutes before sexual activity. The dose may be increased to a maximum recommended dose of 20 mg or decreased to 5 mg based on efficacy and side effects. The maximum recommended dosing frequency is once per day. Generic Vardenafil (Levitra) can be taken with or without food. Sexual stimulation is required for a response to treatment.

Generic Vardenafil (Levitra) should only be taken as needed approximately 60 minutes prior to sexual intercourse. However, Generic Vardenafil (Levitra) should not be taken more than one time per day. Doses should be taken at least 24 hours apart.

In case of OVERDOSE, call your local poison control center. Symptoms of overdose may include: back or muscle pain; blurred vision.

Before taking Generic Vardenafil (Levitra) tell your doctor and pharmacist if you are allergic to this medication or any other drugs.
Tell your doctor and pharmacist what prescription and nonprescription medications you are taking especially medications for high blood pressure; medications to treat an irregular heart rate

Tell your doctor if you have or have ever had an erection that lasted more than 4 hours; stomach ulcers; bleeding disorders; heart, kidney, or liver disease; a heart attack; irregular heartbeats or heart rate; angina; a stroke; high or low blood pressure; sickle cell anemia; leukemia or other blood cancers; conditions affecting the shape of the penis
If you are having surgery, including dental surgery, tell your doctor or dentist that you take Generic Vardenafil (Levitra).

Although side effects from Generic Vardenafil (Levitra) are not common, they can occur. Tell your doctor if any of these side effects are severe or do not go away:
• Headache
• Flushing
• Rhinitis
• Dyspepsia
• Accidental Injury
• Sinusitis
• Flu Syndrome
• Dizziness
• Nausea

If you experience any of the following symptoms, call your doctor immediately:
• rash
• painful erection
• prolonged erection (longer than 4 hours)
• changes in vision
• fainting
• chest pain
• itching or burning during urination

The breakdown and elimination of vardenafil from the body is inhibited by erythromycin, ketoconazole (Nizoral), itraconazole (Sporanox), indinavir (Crixivan) and ritonavir (Norvir). Therefore, these drugs increase the concentration of vardenafil in the blood. If these drugs are being used at the same time as vardenafil, the dose of vardenafil should be reduced in order to avoid side effects from Generic Vardenafil (Levitra).
Generic Vardenafil (Levitra) reduces the concentration of ritonavir and indinavir and may reduce the effect these drugs.
Generic Vardenafil (Levitra) increases the heart rate and also exaggerates the blood pressure lowering effects of nitrates (e.g. nitroglycerine). In patients who take nitrates for chest pain (angina), Generic Vardenafil (Levitra) could cause chest pain by increasing heart rate and lowering blood pressure. Therefore, patients with angina should not use Generic Vardenafil (Levitra)l.
